Zambia

Zambia, which takes its name from the mighty Zambezi River, is situated at the northern-most point of the region known as Southern Africa.  Largely undiscovered by mass tourism it has been dubbed ‘The Real Africa’. It is the land of the legendary African walking safari, Earth's biggest waterfall, the wild Zambezi River, breath-taking lakes and wetlands, a profusion of birds, abundant wildlife, beautiful sunsets and raw, pulsating wilderness ...all in one friendly country.
 
Acknowledged as one of the safest countries in the world to visit, Zambia's people, consisting of 76 different tribes and languages, live in peace and harmony.  English is the national language and is spoken widely throughout Zambia. The population of Zambia is approximately 10 million and with urbanization being quite high there is a low population density outside of the Capital city, Lusaka, and it’s major towns (Livingstone, Kitwe, Ndola, Kabwe).

The country’s economy is largely based on the mining of minerals, principally copper and cobalt, agriculture, hydro-electricity and tourism.

Zambia’s pleasant climate is largely attributed to the general height of the land. There are three main seasons – cool and dry from May to August, hot and dry from September to November, hot and wet from December to April.  Safari season runs from May to December with game viewing at it’s height in the drier months (August – October).

Blessed with 17 waterfalls including the spectacular Victoria Falls, Zambia offers holidays filled with adventure and scenic beauty.

Zambia has an incredible natural heritage with many unique species found only here and boasts with over 740 species of birds.
